* You no longer need [[Tower]]s to use Precursor Tablets, instead, Tablets can now be placed into the Map Device to add their bonuses directly to your Map.
* Tablets now have a fixed number of uses, as described by its Implicit Modifier.
* Each time you use a Tablet while running a Map, the number of remaining uses on the Tablet decreases. Once it reaches zero, the Tablet is destroyed.
* You can use up to 3 Tablets with each Map, but the number of slots available is based on how many modifiers the Map has. Running a Map with 6 Modifiers will enable all 3 of the Tablets slots on the Map Device.
* Tablets cannot be applied to areas that have already been attempted.
* Non-Unique Tablets now have 10 uses (previously 12 to 18), or in the case of the Overseer's Tablet it now has 10 uses (previously 2 to 4).
* As your tablets are now directly applied to your Maps, this means that you can now apply the content you desire to every single Map you run (assuming you have the tablet supply). However, the ceiling for the amount of content you can apply to a single Map has been lowered. Overall this results in a more streamlined and consistent experience, but in order to not have the ceiling come down too far, we’ve buffed the modifiers on Tablets:

This article needs cleanup to meet quality standards.
The list of modifiers shown here and on individual precursor tablets require cleanup once datamined. Please help improve this article if you can.
Precursor tablets (or just Tablets) are items that add additional map mechanic encounters to maps. They can be placed in the Map Device along with the waystone to add its effect to the opened map. Tablets have a limited number of uses before they are consumed, indicated on its implicit modifier.
The number of tablets you can use for a map depends on the number of affixes on the waystone: 1 with 1-2 waystone modifiers, 2 with 3-5 waystone modifiers, and 3 with 6+ waystone modifiers.
The encounter mechanics added by tablets will not override any random encounters added to the map. Tablets cannot be used in map areas that have already been opened.
Tablets can normally be normal, magic, or unique rarity and cannot be upgraded into a rare item. They can be crafted with currency items. However, it is possible to drop rare corrupted tablets from The Arbiter of Ash, which can have up to 4 mods.
