Items have a rarity:

  • magic

Item level

Items from chests and other non-monster sources will drop at the area level. Items from monsters will drop at the monster level, which starts at the area level but can be increased in various ways.

  • Magic and Rare monsters have +1 monster level
  • Boss monsters have +2 monster level
  • Irradiated maps will have +1 monster level for all monsters.
  • Maps with Coalesced Corruption will have +1 monster level for all monsters.

Drop level

Most items have a drop level, which indicates the minimum area level or monster level required for an item to be eligible to drop. Stronger base types generally have a higher drop level. For equipment, the drop level usually matches the base item's required level, though there are some exceptions.
