Delirium is a type of map encounter.

Mechanics

Certain maps may contain a Delirium Mirror near the starting area of the map. Walking through the mirror will create Delirium Fog that spreads and dissipates outwards from that point in a ring shape. While in the fog, Delirium monsters may spawn, and existing monsters deal more damage and take less damage based on the absolute distance from the starting point. The longer and farther the fog travels, the higher the Delirium. Additionally, rare and unique monsters may gain Delirium modifiers, often manifesting as arena hazards or mirages that attack the player.

Defeating monsters builds up the reward counter that appears near the life globe; after the Delirium encounter ends by leaving the fog for over 5 seconds or manually ending the Delirium, the accumulated rewards will drop in the form of Distilled Emotions (1 random type per reward icon) and Simulacrum SplintersSimulacrum SplinterStack Size: 300Combine 300 splinters to create a Simulacrum..

Delirium fog is paused temporarily during the following situations:

  • While not in the area
  • For X seconds after killing a rare monster
  • For X seconds during certain encounters
  • For 10 seconds after opening a strongbox
  • etc.

Fracturing Mirrors
Tooltip
Fracturing Mirrors are structures found in Delirium Fog that shatter when you get near them, spawning Delirium monsters.

Fracturing Mirrors are structures that appear as spires of glass emitting pulses of light that are found in the Delirium fog. They shatter when players approach, spawning packs of Delirium monsters.

Instilled maps

By instilling a map with up to 3 Distilled Emotions, it is possible to add an enchantment that also causes a permanent Delirium fog to persist throughout the entire map. The Deliriousness is determined by the combination of Distilled Emotions and is a static value.

When Delirium is added this way, there is no reward counter and it is not possible to end the Delirium fog. Distilled Emotions cannot be obtained in these kinds of maps. However, Delirium monsters can still be encountered and will drop Simulacrum Splinters directly.

Delirium scaling

The exact effects and scaling of Deliriousness are currently unknown. However, it appears to grant a scaling amount of increased damage, less damage taken, and extra item rarity to monsters.

Delirium by default scales from 0%-100%; however, it is possible to exceed this value in the Simulacrum at higher Difficulties, (up to 140% Deliriousness at Difficulty 4) or in instilled maps (up to 150% Delirious in maps instilled with 3x Distilled IsolationDistilled IsolationStack Size: 10Players in Area are 50% DeliriousCan be consumed with other Distilled Emotions to Instil Amulets with Notable Passive Skills or Waystones with Layers of DeliriumRight click this item to open the Instilling window.).

Version history

Version Changes
0.1.1
  • Added dedicated 2D art for Waystones that are instilled with layers of Delirium.
  • Objects such as Delirium Shards can no longer be pushed by other Monsters.
  • Delirium Monsters are no longer untargetable during their emerge animation, as a result they should no longer push you during this.
0.1.0f
  • Fixed a bug where Rare monsters could pause Delirium mist for an extended period of time, even before touching the Mirror of Delirium. This could result in opening a mirror and having no monsters spawn, or the mist not expanding fully. In addition, Delirium mist is now paused for 10 seconds when opening a Strongbox (previously 5).
0.1.0
  • Introduced to the game.
