Waystone

Waystones are items that can be used in the Map Device to open portals to enter a map.

Mechanics

The tier of the waystone determines the area level of the map starting from level 65, which also determines the item level of items and monster level of monsters found in the map. Waystones can be obtained up to Tier 15 (area level 79), but can be corrupted for +1 Tier up to Tier 16 (area level 80). Waystones found in maps will always be equal to or higher than the current tier map you are in, and final map bosses always drop a waystone one tier higher.

Waystones are craftable and can roll affixes that become area modifiers in the opened map. Prefix modifiers positively affect item drops and rewards. Suffix modifiers increase the difficulty of map while also granting an increased chance to drop a waystone.

When used, waystones create up to six portals to the area depending on the number of modifiers on the waystone. Players can enter and exit the map using the portal an indefinite number of times; doing so will not consume a portal. However, respawning after dying will consume a portal. In parties, each player have independent portals. Once all portals are consumed, the map is failed and a new waystone must be used to open the map again.

Unidentified waystones grant 30% increased Waystone drop chance when used to open a map. Doing so will conceal the modifiers of the map when inside.

0.2.0d	(Hotfix 1) At higher tiers of Maps, the amount of Waystone chance increase required to guarantee Map drops from Final Rares or Map Bosses is now lower. You now need less Waystone chance to ensure a Map drops from these conditions at Tier12+ Maps, notably changing at Tier14+. This results in easier sustain at the top tiers of Endgame.
0.2.0	How Waystones are obtained in Maps has been redesigned. Our intention is to make both sustaining waystone drops much more reliable and less dependant on random elements. Waystones can no longer drop at a lower tier than the map you are in. Waystones dropped by Final Map Bosses will now always be one tier higher than the map you are in. Final Map Bosses and the final naturally-occurring Rare Monsters in Tier 1 maps have a 100% chance to drop a waystone. This chance scales down as you get into higher Map Tiers, but will still be guaranteed with appropriate investment into Waystone Suffix Modifiers and through the Atlas Passive Tree. Natual waystone drops have been reduced to compensate. Removed chances for Waystones to drop a Tier higher from the Atlas Passive Tree, and lowered the amount of Waystone Quantity available on the Atlas Passive Tree. Sources of "Map Boss have a chance to drop a Waystone of the current tier or higher" have been replaced by "increased quantity of Waystones dropped by Map Bosses". Doryani now has up to 10 Waystones available to purchase, either at Tier 1, or one Tier below your highest-completed Tier. The Waystone chance granted by Waystone Suffix Modifiers has been reduced as a result of the new chances to drop Waystones. Unidentified Waystones now provide 30% increased Waystone drop chance, instead of 30% increased Quantity.
