Orb of Chance is a currency item that can be used to randomly upgrade a normal item into a unique item, if possible, or destroys it.

Mechanics

Orb of Chance cannot be used on items with no unique versions or only drop-restricted unique versions. Attempting to do so will result in an error: Item cannot increase in rarity.

The chance of an item's success in upgrading into a unique or being destroyed depends on the relative unique item tier of the unique(s). Rarer uniques are less likely to be obtained.

The effect of the Orb of Chance differs from its POE1 counterpart; instead, it is more similar to a Tainted Mythic Orb (or rather, a "non-Tainted" version of it).
