Lore

Maxarius is a historical figure in Path of Exile. He was originally an Azmeri whose desire for power and divinity led to his banishment from the Azmeri mountains and his ascension as the monotheistic deity of the Oriathan Templars, Innocence. Although his original name is unknown, High Templar Maxarius was his identity as the first High Templar to further the founding of his religion. He is the brother of Sin. After the events of Path of Exile, he was believed to have banished himself to the frozen south across the ocean for his sins.
