Help the Kalguuran Settlers set up a chain of explosives and unearth the treasures, but beware of the dangers that hide in wait.
Remnants can also be detonated to add modifiers to the rest of the Expedition encounter; making them harder but more rewarding.
Expedition monsters and chests will occasionally drop Artifacts that can be traded at the Kalguuran Settlers for items.
Vendor Refresh Currencies can also occasionally drop which allow for the refreshing of Kalguuran Settler shops.

Expedition is a map mechanic. The exile may encounter ancient Kalguuran burial sites with lost artifacts. The exile will be tasked, by the expedition NPCs (Dannig, Tujen, Rog and Gwennen) with placing a chain of explosives to recover the buried chests. Explosives will also uncover ancient Kalguuran monsters. Explosives may also destroy Remnants, special objects which will give certain effects, one upside and one downside, to all monsters in its explosion and all proceeding explosions.
Logbooks are exclusive to expedition.
Encounter
Expedition encounters are composed of different markers. The player will have access to a number of explosives (which can be seen on the bottom right after entering the encounter area), which need to be placed down and chained together. Each explosive will have a radius indicated with a green circle which shows what markers come under its effect. After planting the explosives, the player may press the trigger to start the chain of explosives, unearthing different things at various markers in the vicinity of the explosions. Markers indicate three possible interactions to occur during the explosion:
Excavated Chests

Excavated Chests markers unearth chests that contain items. The rarity of the items inside is indicated by the color of the associated marker.
Runic monster

Runic monster markers unearth special monsters that have more life, deal more damage, and drop more expedition currency.
Remnants

Remnant markers indicate a special interaction which provide various upsides in terms of improving item drops or experience, with the added challenge of more difficult monsters.
Each remnant shows a textbox above its location showing a monster modifier (in blue text) and a loot modifier (in cyan text). The monster modifiers can include complete immunity to a damage type, which will be instead shown in yellow.
Any remnant which is destroyed by an explosion will add its modifiers to everything unearthed in that explosion and all subsequent explosions, so for example a remnant destroyed in the first explosion will apply to the entire encounter. You can destroy more than one remnant in the same explosion.
