The Viridian Wildwood

From Path of Exile 2 Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Viridian Wildwood is a unique map. It appears within the forest and swamp biomes.

Layout

The map is an extremely large forest densely packed with trees. The entire map is shrouded in darkness by swarms of locusts that is cleansed as you walk through it, consuming a hidden meter of Sacred Wisp illumination based on distance travelled into the darkness. Interacting with white clusters of wisps in the area will illuminate a larger area and recharge your illumination. The area is inhabited by various Nameless and Treant monsters, many of which are also found in Ritual encounters.

Mechanics

The map is completed when the player runs out of Sacred Wisp illumination. Doing so will cause a whitish-blue pulse around the character, and the darkness can no longer be explored further. Stepping into the darkness after this point will inflict a debuff that slows the player and stacks to 10 before kicking the player out into a small empty room similar to the start of The Grim Tangle. At this point the player can no longer return to the main area.

The area contains "Omen Altar" chests that drop a random omen.

Trivia

The Viridian Wildwood map and its mechanics are directly inspired by its Path of Exile counterpart, but lacks many of the special encounters found within it including empowering wisps (not to be confused with POE2's Azmerian wisps).
