Talk to Doryani

You have arrived in Kingsmarch. Talk to Doryani to learn more about why you've come here.

  • Talk to Doryani

The Hooded One:

Utzaal is close. Be careful. The Vaal heavily relied on the use of Corruption. Their lands may still be dangerous.

Doryani:

This is it? This... is Kingsmarch? Science and civilisation must have never recovered.

The Hooded One:

Your time was different, yes, but don't discount the Kalguurans just yet. They have potential.

Doryani:

Hmm... we shall see.

  • Huntress: Oi. Where did Alva get to?
  • Monk: So... where is Alva?
  • Warrior: Where is Alva?
  • Witch: Where's the annoying optimist?
  • Sorceress: Where did Alva go?
  • Ranger: Did Alva come this way?
  • Mercenary: So fellas... where's Alva?

The Hooded One:

She has gone ahead to meet her local contact.

Doryani:

We will need a vessel to navigate the archipelago. We must begin our search to locate the pieces of the Weapon.

  • Huntress: Behave yourselves, will ya?
  • Monk: Please - remain civil in my absence.
  • Warrior: Try and get along, you two.
  • Witch: Don't kill each other while I'm gone... or do.
  • Sorceress: Please... try to put aside your differences in my absence.
  • Ranger: Try not to bicker too much while I'm gone, will you?
  • Mercenary: Alright. Don't go havin' a street brawl while I'm gone. I wanna watch.

Meet up with Alva

Doryani has told you about the search that you must undertake. Meet up with Alva to find out about hiring a ship.

  • Meet up with Alva

Alva:

Ahhh, Kingsmarch! It's been months since I had a bath!

Talk to Alva

Speak to Alva about selling your artefacts.

  • Talk to Alva

Rog, the Dealer:

Is this the friend you mentioned?

Alva:

Ah, there you are! This is my contact Rog, a trader with a keen eye for valuable artefacts! Rog, my friends are after a ship... And it just so happens we've a cart load of Vaal treasure to cover the charter.

  • Huntress: My hunt leads me toward the most dangerous islands.
  • Monk: My path unfortunately leads me to your most dangerous islands.
  • Warrior: We need a skilled Captain. We seek the most dangerous islands in the region.
  • Witch: What I'm looking for makes itself known with danger. It may be on several islands.
  • Sorceress: I need a guide - someone capable of taking me to your most dangerous islands.
  • Ranger: We're looking for something that can only be found on the most dangerous islands.
  • Mercenary: Apparently, we're looking to head right to the most dangerous islands.

Rog, the Dealer:

Hmm, Kalguuran merchant vessels don't intentionally seek out danger. However... there is one Captain who may be up to the task. Name's Makoru. I'll set up an account for you, but for now, here is your charter. Take it to her. I've no doubt she'll accept.

If you chose to speak to Makoru and Kanu before obtaining the Boat Charter, they will have alternative dialogue.

Makoru:

Welcome aboard. I'm Makoru, Captain of the Aurora May. Yes, we are indeed looking for work, but we only operate under the Meridian Free Traders of Kingsmarch. You can't just turn up with gold and demand passage.

  • Warrior: My apologies. What do I need to do?
  • Witch: Are you sure? What if I had quite a lot of gold?
  • Sorceress: I meant no offense. What is the proper custom?
  • Ranger: Oh... I have no idea how this kind of thing works.
  • Huntress: Ugh. What should I do then?
  • Monk: Of course. What must I do?
  • Mercenary: I'm sure someone wants this gold.

  • Makoru (Warrior): Not to worry...
  • Makoru (Witch): I don't take bribes! We have a process you must follow.
  • Makoru (Sorceress): That's fine. Let me explain.
  • Makoru (Ranger): It's simple really.
  • Makoru (Huntress): Just a bit of paperwork.
  • Makoru (Monk): It won't take a moment...
  • Makoru (Mercenary): Oh we want it alright... but first...

Makoru:

You'll need to arrange an account and charter. Rog's your man for that. Once it's all sorted, we can talk.

Kanu:

If you're after a ship and crew, you'll need a charter. We don't just work for anyone who shuffles aboard off the dock, you know! Speak to Rog about the charter. Yeah, he can sort you out.

Take the Boat Charter from Rog

Rog is offering you a Boat Charter. Take it and show it to Makoru to gain access to the ship.

  • Take the Boat CharterBoat CharterBound by ink, upheld by trust. from Rog

Alva:

I suppose it's time we said farewell, for now. I'm off to study a tome on Blood Magic I... found... back in Utzaal. How exciting! Do be careful out there!

Rog, the Dealer:

Come visit my shop some time!

Talk to Makoru

Speak to Makoru to hire her ship.

  • Talk to Makoru about hiring a ship

Makoru (first met):

Welcome aboard. I'm Makoru. Captain of the Aurora May.

Makoru (already met):

Welcome back!

  • Warrior: I've acquired a charter, and I'm told you're the best Captain for the job.
  • Witch: So, this charter here means you have to do what I say, right?
  • Sorceress: Good day. I have received a charter and am looking for a crew.
  • Ranger: I've got a... paper thing... A charter.
  • Huntress: Got a charter here.
  • Monk: I have a charter. And I seek a ship and a crew.
  • Mercenary: I've bought a charter for this ship so, guess you work for me now.

  • Makoru: Well... I think I might be the only Captain at the moment. But, that is nice to hear!
  • Makoru: Not exactly... but we're happy to oblige what we can.
  • Makoru: Look no further. The Aurora May and her crew are at your service.
  • Makoru: Then the hard work is done. We are at your service.
  • Makoru: Great! Then the Aurora May and her crew are at your service.
  • Makoru: Seek no further. We'll take you wherever you need to go.
  • Makoru: It seems that way, doesn't it?

Makoru:

We can take you wherever you need. Places other captains would never dream of going! Your business is your business. Now, we can set sail whenever you like.

Kanu:

Watch your step, eh! Slip overboard and you're on your own. I'm Kanu. First Mate of the Aurora May.

Kanu:

If you're lookin' for a ship, best speak to the boss, Makoru. And mind your manners while you're at it!

  • Warrior: Well, quite the introduction. Good to meet you, Kanu.
  • Witch: Young Kanu. Confidence... or arrogance? Which is it? We may get along, depending on which you choose.
  • Sorceress: Good day, Kanu. You have such confidence. I hope you are a capable seafarer.
  • Ranger: You're a boisterous one. But your smile seems... kind.
  • Huntress: Well, Kanu... quite the mouth you've got.
  • Monk: Please. No need for all the theatrics.
  • Mercenary: Alright, mate. Not looking for trouble, just a crew.

  • Kanu: Phwoar. Your voice is thick as a rock! Powerful. I won't mess around with you after a few drinks, eh?
  • Kanu: Let's wait and see. I have a way of growing on people, or so I'm told.
  • Kanu: My nana always said, a smile speaks a thousand words. Pleased to meet you, my lady.
  • Kanu: It's gotten me in my fair share of trouble. And out of it, too.
  • Kanu: Hey, come on. Life is for livin'. Live loud - and die quietly, that's what I say.
  • Kanu: Well, this crew does a good job of getting into trouble. So... guess you found both! I'm just having some fun. Welcome aboard.
  • Kanu: Yeah, that's right. I'm the best!

  • Huntress: Oh, I can imagine. One after me own heart.
  • Monk: Hmm. Not a bad mantra, I will admit.

  • Makoru (Sorceress): The best?
  • Kanu (Sorceress): Uhh... the second best!
  • Sorceress: Hah! Well done.
