Cost is a property of active skills. Most skills have a mana cost by default, though costs of life or other resources may also be possible.

The cost of a skill must be paid each time it is used. The cost of skills is spread over a short period of time as the skill is activated. Cancelling a skill mid-activation, such as with a dodge roll, will stop the remaining cost from being spent but will not refund any already spent cost.

Skills granted by an Ascendancy skill and items do not have a cost.

Skills that have no base cost and are not cast directly (Ex. Elemental Discharge, Impending Doom's Doom Blast, Blink) cannot have their cost adjusted.
