Eldritch Empowerment is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Lich that causes spells to sacrifice energy shield whenever they are used and give it more damage. Energy shield spent this way does not interrupt recharge.

Mechanics

The sacrificed energy shield is not considered to be part of the skill's cost. You cannot sacrifice a resource you do not have.

0.4.0b	Fixed a bug where the Lich's Eldritch Empowerment Passive Skill was displaying the amount of life sacrificed as if it was the amount of damage granted when sacrificing life (i.e. it displayed as granting 5% more damage instead of 30% more damage). This is purely a description update.
0.3.0	The Eldritch Empowerment Notable Passive Skill no longer provides Non-Channelling Spells cost an additional 3% of Maximum Energy Shield, Non-Channelling Spells deal 30% more Damage, or Spending Energy Shield does not interrupt Recharge. Instead, it now provides Spells deal 30% more Damage when Sacrificing Energy Shield, Sacrifice 5% of maximum Energy Shield when you Cast a Spell, and Sacrificing Energy Shield does not interrupt Recharge.
0.2.0g	Most Skills that have no mana cost which you don't cast yourself are now also granted a hidden no skill cost stat preventing them from gaining additional costs, such as from Lich's Eldritch Empowerment Notable Passive Skill. Examples include Elemental Discharge, Impending Doom's Doom Blast and Blink. Spells you cast yourself granted from Wands and Staves will still be able to get additional costs.
