Ignite immunity does not prevent this debuff, so it's not ignite. I call it blackflame as that is the name of the debuff he applies to you on hit after infusing his sword with the purple seed. current

I tested it simply with having one weapon having fire damage and seeing if caltrops applied flammability. I think the testing is conclusive enough to determine the offhand is not used. current
