Waypoints are a way of saving your progress throughout Wraeclast. They allow you to travel across areas in the game. They function similarly to their PoE1 counterpart.

Walking near a waypoint will make it glow blue, this permanently unlocks it for this character. You do not need to click on a waypoint to unlock it. Some waypoints are automatically unlocked upon reaching an area or finishing a quest.

Clicking on a waypoint will bring up the map of your current act.

Act 1 World Interface with unlocked waypoints visible.

Opening the World Interface (U) or clicking on a waypoint shows a map of the Acts and any unlocked waypoints or towns. A button on the far right side also allows switching between the overworld and underground maps.

If the World Interface was opened by clicking on a waypoint, the player can teleport to any unlocked waypoint or town by clicking on the icon. They can also teleport to certain key locations using the sidebar, such as their hideout, Ascension Trials, or the Well of Souls, if their waypoints are unlocked.
