Eldritch Empowerment is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Lich that causes spells to sacrifice energy shield whenever they are used and give it more damage. Energy shield spent this way does not interrupt recharge.

Mechanics

The sacrificed energy shield is not considered to be part of the skill's cost. Spells will gain more damage as long as at least 1 energy shield was sacrificed this way.[confirmation needed]
