Eldritch Empowerment is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Lich that causes non-channelling spells to deal more damage but adds an energy shield cost equal to a portion of your maximum energy shield to them. Energy shield spent this way does not interrupt recharge.

Mechanics

All non-channeling skills will gain an energy shield cost equal to 3% of the player's maximum energy shield. This includes skills with no inherent cost such as granted skills.

If the player has 0 maximum energy shield, no cost will be added unless the player has Eldritch Battery allocated (see below). If you have 0 energy shield from taking damage, you will not be able to cast your spells and they will show as disabled.

Eldritch Battery: Having any amount of energy shield and taking Eldritch Battery to convert that energy shield to mana will prevent players from being able to use skills due to a hidden minimum 1 energy shield cost.[Likely due to a bug]

0.2.0g	Most Skills that have no mana cost which you don't cast yourself are now also granted a hidden no skill cost stat preventing them from gaining additional costs, such as from Lich's Eldritch Empowerment Notable Passive Skill. Examples include Elemental Discharge, Impending Doom's Doom Blast and Blink. Spells you cast yourself granted from Wands and Staves will still be able to get additional costs.
