Instruments of Power is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Disciple of Varashta that allows a character to equip a focus with a staff, but reduces the bonuses gained from the focus.
Mechanics
Stats on the focus (including from augments) are granted at half their value. Modifiers that grant +# to Level of all X skills cannot round down below 1.
When it comes down to rounding numbers, corrupted implicit values are rounded up when applying the 50% reduced bonuses.
If an explicit value requires to do a calculation, for example Rathpith Globe's Spell Damage per 100 Maximum Life, it will apply the reduction after the explicit calculation has been resolved.
The character will not visually have a focus equipped on their 3D model while also wielding a staff.
