Mechanics

Effect on maximum hit pool

Sacrifice of Flesh reduces the maximum damage you can take from a single hit without dying. With this keystone, a hit needs to deal 125% of your maximum life to oneshot you.
Sacrifice of Flesh does not mitigate damage over time, life loss from non-hits, or sacrificed life.

Miscellaneous

You cannot directly mitigate the life loss over time from Sacrifice of Flesh in any way. It is not considered damage over time. Damage immunity has no effect on this life loss.
Sacrifice of Flesh does not interact with other resources lost before life, such as energy shield or mana.

Synergies

Sacrifice of Flesh will not interfere with mechanics that track the amount of damage taken, since it delays life loss and not damage taken.
Chronomancer's The Rapid River passive shortens recoup time to 4 seconds, meaning that as long as the character has 30%+ life recoup (to account for taking 150% of prevented damage), it can effectively ignore the life loss over time, as long as they are not affected by penalties to life recovery.
