Waypoints can be found in most areas and towns in Wraeclast and serve as a method of saving your progression through the campaign. They permit fast-travel through the World Interface once unlocked.
Walking near a waypoint will make it glow blue, permanently unlocking access to it for the current character. They do not need to be interacted with directly to unlock them. Some waypoints may be automatically unlocked upon reaching an area or finishing a quest.
The waypoint in a player's current area can be teleported to quickly by interacting with a checkpoint through the minimap, or vice versa.
World Interface

Pressing the World Interface hotkey (U) or clicking on a waypoint shows a map of the Acts and any unlocked waypoints or towns. A button on the far right side also allows switching between the overworld and underground maps.
If the World Interface was opened by clicking on a waypoint, the player can teleport to any unlocked waypoint or town by clicking on the icon. They can also teleport to certain key locations using the sidebar, such as their hideout, Ascension Trials, or the Well of Souls, if their waypoints are unlocked.
