The Chat interface shows chat channels and messages from other players. It also shows character and quest dialogue and some system messages. There are some commands that can be typed into chat to do various things.
Channels
There are several different channels of communication which appear in the chat window. Each of these can be toggled on and off by buttons at the top of the chat interface.
- Local: sent to everyone in your current area instance.
- # Global: has numbered channels.
- % Party: sent to everyone in your current party.
- @ Whisper: sent to a named character.
- $ Trade: has numbered channels.
- & Guild: sent to everyone in your current guild.
Shortcut keys
- Ctrl+Alt+Click on an item to copy it into chat.
- Enter: Open chat interface.
- Ctrl+Enter: Open chat interface and set it to whisper your most recent whisper recipient.
- Shift+Enter: Open chat interface and set it to chat to Global. This will turn Global on if it is toggled off.
