Jamanra, the Risen King
Risu, Faridun Defector

The Faridun is a name for the rejects of the Maraketh, who live in the Vastiri Desert.

Overview

By Maraketh tradition, all newborns that are mutated or otherwise flawed are abandoned in the dunes, where they are found and adopted by Faridun tribes that wander the desert.

Their communities are looked down upon by the Maraketh for their counterculture, and especially for their supposed sensitivity toward corruption. Necromancy and other occult magic are not frowned upon by the Faridun, unlike the Maraketh which consider it taboo.

The Faridun generally consider themselves to be part of the Maraketh people and long for reunification with the akharas.

Events in Path of Exile 2

In her plan for obtaining the Beast, Countess Oriana visited the Vastiri in search of allies who would help her feed the Seed of Corruption, once she returned with it. She has asked them to rally at Mawdun Quarry where they would prepare weapons and a caravan known as The Dreadnought. For this, she has promised to resurrect their long-dead revolutionary leader Jamanra, who once aspired to unite the Faridun tribes and reintegrate them with the Maraketh.

After Oriana left Ezomyr with the fledgling Beast, she fulfilled her promise, and Jamanra was resurrected with the power of corruption. The Beast was now carried on the Dreadnought around the desert, in search of corpses, especially ones with latent divine energies that the Beast could grow the fastest from. The proximity towards the Beast has caused most of the newly formed Faridun army to become corrupted. Risu was freed in the Quarry by the player character and taken to The Ardura Caravan.

Jamanra has locked The Halani Gates, giving the Faridun a chance to travel to Deshar, where many of the most revered Maraketh were given a sky burial. The player character and Sekhema Asala have opened the gates and confronted the Risen King there. During the fight, Jamanra retreated and summoned an impassable sandstorm.

When the sandstorm was dispelled, Jamanra was tracked down by the Ardura, and has been given an honourable death by Asala.

After the events of act 2, Sekhema Asala of the Ardura akhara has allowed the remaining Faridun warriors to join their ranks.
