A Jewel socket is a special node found on the Passive skill tree which allows a jewel to be socketed and unsocketed from it. This allows some minor changes to be made to your passive tree without the need to respec points. You do not need to have a jewel available to select a jewel socket - you can path through it and put a jewel in later.

Some jewels can have a radius which affects other nearby passives on the tree in various ways.
